Raoult’s Law

Subject: Chemistry

Book: General Chemistry

Raoult’s law states that the partial vapor pressure of each component in an ideal solution is proportional to its mole fraction in the solution and its pure vapor pressure. Mathematically, P(A) = X(A)*P°(A). It’s fundamental for understanding how solutions behave, particularly in distillation and other separation processes. Deviations from Raoult’s law indicate non-ideal interactions between solute and solvent.
